About
I am Laura Perdomo, a Colombian multidisciplinary artist based in London. I work with sculpture, installation, video, performance, and textiles, often using found and domestic materials. I am interested in the relationship between objects, people, and the spaces we call home, and how materials can hold memories, stories, and legacies. My practice stems from my own experience of moving between places and from a curiosity about how we construct, transform, and understand the territories we inhabit, starting with the house where we realize our identity.
If you could choose half of your room, furniture and all, which half would it be? Over the last three decades, the shrinking of housing has emerged as a systematic symptom, where homes reduced to their most functional form are not designed for long-term habitation. Personal belongings, decoration, intimacy, and community become luxuries as spaces are reduced to their bare minimum. This critical installation examines the way housing is distributed in Bogotá and how moving becomes a violent act as spaces fail to accommodate the needs of daily life.
