About
‘Cornaro’ is a collection inspired by my two ‘homes’, Cyprus and Italy. Through researching the traditions and heritage of each country and how Italy influenced Cyprus, I was able to translate my love for both places in a contemporary way through this collection. The title ‘Cornaro’ comes from the name of the last Queen of Cyprus, Caterina Cornaro (1474-1489).She was from Venice and the Venetian rule influenced a lot of different aspects in the Island of Cyprus.
The key aspects of ‘Cornaro’ are the materials and the craftsmanship used to create it. Almost all of the materials are produced specifically for this collection in Cyprus in collaboration with local artisans. The textiles are hand woven on a traditional Cyprus loom by KE Weaving Studio. This emphasizes the importance and the high quality of the ‘Made in Cyprus’ idea, something which corresponds to the outstanding quality of products under the ‘Made in Italy’ etiquette.
Katerina Paschalides was born in Cyprus and currently lives in Switzerland. She is an emerging fashion designer and developer highly passionate about garment development, material research, artisanal craftsmanship and innovation.She enjoys learning new innovative ways of production processes and working together with passionate team members for optimal results.
Katerina believes in luxury, in high quality materials and in timeless design.
She is good at managing a whole team, a good communicator and never misses a deadline. Outside of work, she enjoys exercising, doing activities in nature and values a healthy lifestyle.
