About
I am a knitwear designer interested in the intersection of nature, culture, craftsmanship, and sustainability. My work explores how traditional textile practices and natural systems can be translated into contemporary fashion through texture, materiality, and storytelling. Working primarily by hand, I combine natural fibres with reclaimed and recycled materials, transforming discarded objects into new textile forms. I am particularly interested in extending the life cycle of materials and challenging conventional ideas of value through thoughtful design. Through my practice, I aim to create pieces that are visually impactful, materially responsible, and designed to be appreciated over time.
This project is inspired by the cacti of the Andean highlands and the textile traditions of the Aymara people. I was particularly drawn to the soft, hair-like textures some cacti use to survive extreme climates, as well as the layered garments Aymara women wear to express cultural identity. Combining these influences, I translated natural forms into hand-crafted knitwear using mohair and cashmere. I also incorporated donated post-holiday tinsel garlands, transforming discarded materials into new textile elements to explore sustainability, craftsmanship, and the relationship between nature, culture, and waste.
