About

ABOUT

As a business, Jem Adelle Designs is made to encourage its customers to dress with colour and personality.

Print is big and bold throughout Jem Adelle Designs and so the audience would be targeted more towards mood enhanced fashion.

Jem Adelle designs is all about personality, positivity and catwalk!

Most of my designs are heavily print based, though I have also taken lots of inspiration from current trend set designers such as Molly Goddard, John Galliano and Germanier.

As a designer, I wanted to design clothes that reflected my childhood experiences,

personality and positive lifestyle in order to make my customers feel like they are wearing my positivity reflected through funky clothing.

My name is Jemma Adelle Sturrs, founder of Jem Adelle. I love expressing my personality through print, colour and fashion as it makes me and others feel good. My spark for fashion came to light during lockdown as experimented with fashion illustration. This then evolved into art A level, when I first started to take up private sewing lessons and fell in love with fabric manipulation.

My enthusiasm for colour, print and textile manipulation has grown so much from studying at The University of Chester and I hope to continue to develop on this throughout the future of my career in the fashion industry.

The dream

Becoming a print designer has been a journey of self discovery, creativity, and bold expression. Through my love for colour, pattern, and texture. I've found my voice in the art of print, where every design becomes my canvas for storytelling, culture, emotion and individuality. As I step into the world as a print designer, I carry with me the passion, vision, and drive to make my mark one vibrant design at a time.

My dream would be to work as a print designer alongside iconic fashion houses such as Vivienne Westwood, Oliver Bonas, ASOS etc.The fearless creativity of such designers deeply resonates with my own approach to print. To see my prints come to life on the runway to celebrate individuality would be an ultimate fulfilment of my creative journey.

"FISH ABOVE WATER" S/S26 collection reflects a deeply personal exploration of personal identity, resilience, and the courage to exist unapologetically in unfamiliar spaces. The concept was born from my roots in Anglesey, a small island in North Wales where the sea is both a boundary and a source of life. Growing up surrounded by water inspired the central metaphor of a fish above water its natural element exposed yet still moving forward. It reflects t h e experience of navigating environments where you may feel out of place, yet still finding strength, beauty, and purpose. When looking for a concept, I have learnt that there is a lot more to fashion than just wearing it. The psychology behind my garments when looking for fabrics was always very important, as I was interested in the way it would be like rather than the look and this was influenced by childhood experiences on Anglesey. Through fluid draping, bold textures, and experimental silhouettes, I have brought this idea to life, blending coastal influence with a futuristic edge. The collection merges fluid silhouettes with structured elements throughout the shoulders. Each garment tells a beautiful story and reflects personality from my life on Anglesey. Developed during my final year at The University of Chester, "FISH ABOVE WATER" is more than a collection, it is a tribute to where l've come from, how far I have come, and the powerful journey of becoming.
