About
I'm Gustina Maksvytytė — a product and digital designer focused on creating thoughtful, user-centered experiences. I enjoy turning complex problems into clear, intuitive solutions through research, strategy, and visual design.
I hold a degree in Product Design from the Vilnius Academy of Arts, where I built a strong foundation in both physical and digital design through hands-on practice. My work centers on sustainability and intentionality — I often work with secondary and reclaimed materials, finding creative ways to give them new life and aesthetic value, from upcycled furniture to textile-waste lighting and sensory objects.
Flax has been cultivated across Europe, with each region carrying its own rituals and practices. Today, much of this cultural memory is fading. The project bridges two areas that are rarely addressed together: textile waste and erosion of cultural identity, exploring how discarded materials can regain symbolic and ecological value. The resulting objects—a bench and a floor basket—draw from archetypal forms of flax processing: tied bundles, tall stalks, and combed shooks. By reinterpreting these forms, the project combines sustainable design, material experimentation, craft, and ethno-design, transforming waste into objects that preserve fragments of cultural memory.
