About
I am a final year student on Textiles in Practice at Manchester School of Art, specialising in knitted textiles. My practice is centred around the finer details and intricacies of knitting with an emphasis on sustainability through the use of natural fibres. I enjoy exploring structure, shape and colour within knitted textiles, combining an appreciation for traditional techniques with the innovative potential of modern technology.
‘Folded Form’ explores knitted textiles inspired by the sculptural silhouettes of stage costumes, particularly the exaggerated forms of Oskar Schlemmer’s ‘Triadic Ballet’. With an emphasis on structural development, each knitted sample investigates pleated and dimensional surfaces through varied pleat arrangements. The project adopts a muted colour palette from 1930s vintage Triadic Ballet posters. Informed by the concept of a ‘ballet of geometry’, the work examines the interaction between curved forms and linear structure, creating abstract formations that balance movement with structure.

“Circus in Stitch” explores the visual language of the circus, drawing on the vibrant colours, patterns and textures associated with this playful environment. Inspired by my local circus, I aimed to capture a sense of joy, nostalgia and community, reflecting the atmosphere created through sound, colour and performance.
