Industrial Designer and Design Researcher working across product development, material exploration and future thinking, translating complex environmental challenges into tangible products and experiences.
We have designed our forests to burn. Wet Soil for a Burning World investigates how design can support a shift from reactive wildfire management toward regenerative forest systems, starting from the soil. Through fieldwork, ecological research, and material experimentation with PaperShell, the project studies soil moisture and carbon distribution as the conditions that determine whether a forest burns intensely or recovers over time. Two design propositions explore how biochar can be gradually introduced into forest soils, one acting on existing forests, one accompanying trees from nursery to forest floor over decades, building the conditions for long-term regeneration from the ground up.
