I’m Eva, Product Designer and the Founder of Pumula Hotel Slippers. I have a specialisation in luxury packaging, manufacturing optimisation and sustainable design. I'm curious and love working with others to solve problems, using technology and manufacturing processes as friendly tools and taking on projects from concept to manufacturing successfully. I tackle any project with thorough research and experiments, in a process-oriented manner.
Pumula Hotel Slippers are circular, washable, and recyclable 100% cotton slippers crafted from reclaimed luxury hotel linens. Tailored for forward-thinking hotels, they transform single-use plastic consumables into reusable assets. They're reusable for 10 stays: one pair replaces ten disposable slippers, cutting carbon emissions by 70% and reducing footwear costs by 50% for hotels. Pumula Slippers offer a scalable solution that integrates directly into existing commercial hotel laundries. Pumula Slippers' primary innovation lies in an engineered closed-loop system that standardises raw material variance. Large hotels (150 to 300+ rooms) generate approximately 30kg of rejected linens monthly (60,000 tonnes globally per year). Pumula Slippers transform this luxury textile stream with minor defects into reusable hotel footwear. Inspired by hotel pillowcases, Pumula Slippers feature a distinctive square silhouette hence their nickname 'Pillows for Feet.' Designed with guest comfort and operational efficiency, their shape also accommodate wider feet, while the non-gendered, ambidextrous construction eliminates left/right sorting for housekeeping and maximises yield during textile cutting. This shape also makes them stand out from the usual hotel slippers and give them a luxurious appeal and experience that hotels aim for whilst being sustainable. Available in 2 sizes and 3 styles, they retain their natural white luxury linen appearance to integrate seamlessly into standard commercial washing processes.
