About

Designing towards a new future of material use and methods, Emily’s work explores connections between the user and the object, challenging the interactions and habits we form.
Using observation and curiosity as a key element of their design process, she hopes to create insightful work that encourages discussion.
Emily is enthusiastic for a wide variety of design possibilities, allowing a project to take its own course, with a current interest in fashion accessories.

Made entirely from waste upholstery offcuts, Weave provides a surface for adaptability and playfulness whilst questioning existing methods of manufacturing. Engaging the user in their own needs and requirements, the woven structure allows panels to be tightened and additional waste materials to be added to create straps and fastenings, increasing emotional durability and product longevity. The bag is designed for easy disassembly, including a user repair guide and an option for a collaborative redesign. Reducing emissions and environmental impact through its locally sourced material and no additional hardware or fastenings, Weave encourages experimentation and expression of identity from the user’s everyday environment.
