Vacuum Gallery is an investigation into mental and/or physical in-between spaces, in which the conventional rules of society can be temporarily excluded. In these spaces one can escape from the everyday routine and the expectations of the outside world. These are strategies that can be used to press a pause button, as it were, in which ‘something else’ is possible, something that deviates, something that does not immediately fit into the rules, something that may then also question those rules. This can lead to deep introspection, the exploration of a different kind of consciousness and the promotion of creativity. By analysing these in-between spaces, insight is gained into how such environments enable individuals to think outside the box, discover new perspectives and develop ideas. As a maker of electronic music and visuals, I create work that embodies these concepts and takes the viewer on a journey through these in-between spaces. My music functions as a medium to explore and illuminate these alternative states of consciousness. By combining the pulsating rhythms and hypnotic sounds of techno, for example, with visual art, I aim to provide a completely immersive experience that blurs the boundaries of conventional reality.
