About Me:
I’m Dorcas Lutalakuemo-Nsiafumo , a communication designer, photographer, and filmmaker based in Germany. My creative practice sits at the intersection of visual storytelling, culture, faith, and human connection.I’m particularly interested in creating work that feels personal, authentic, and emotionally engaging. Through photography, film, and design, I explore stories and perspectives that are often shaped by identity, community, and personal experiences. I recently completed my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Design at Hochschule Düsseldorf. For my Bachelor’s thesis, I created “Isaak und Rebekka,” a contemporary short-film adaptation inspired by the biblical story from Genesis 24.
The project allowed me to combine my interests in filmmaking, storytelling, directing, cinematography, and visual design while exploring how an ancient story can be reinterpreted for a contemporary audience.I’m excited to share my Bachelor’s project here as a representation of my creative development and the kind of visual storytelling I want to continue pursuing.
About the Project Isaac & Rebekka is a contemporary short film inspired by the biblical story of Isaac and Rebekah from Genesis 24. The film reimagines the ancient story in a modern context, exploring themes of love, faith, purpose, and the idea of being guided toward someone. Rather than simply retelling the biblical narrative, the project focuses on translating its core themes into a contemporary visual language that feels relatable to today’s audience. My faith in God also played an important role in how the story was approached and brought to life through the visual language of the film. As my Bachelor’s project in Communication Design, the film allowed me to bring together storytelling, directing, cinematography, and visual design. The final film is not perfect and contains mistakes and imperfections, but these are also an honest part of the creative process. Every decision, challenge, and mistake became part of my learning experience and contributed to my development as a filmmaker and designer. The film is entirely in German.
