About

Taking inspiration from objects, colours, the environment, people, and trends, to create new works, elevating the ordinary into something refreshing and with strong emotional concepts drives my practice. Noticing connections between the surrounding environment, and the self, fuels my work and the connections created as a result. As designers, I believe we have the responsibility to use our outputs to raise awareness, educate, connect, and inspire others. Revealing relationships and encouraging discovery within myself and my audience is an imperative aim of my work.

A key idea that regularly underpins my work is emotional well-being and self-expression and awareness of these topic. Understanding that the act of creating, making, and designing can conjure emotional awareness of the self and your surroundings adds value to what I do, and what I hope others gain.

My interest in fashion and designing for fashion print derives from seeing it as a vehicle for unapologetic self-expression. It is more than something to enjoy for me, it enables me to tell stories of what I believe is important, find peace within myself, and build relationships with myself and others alike. Being able to teach and learn through my craft is the ongoing goal, and the variety that that offers massively energises me for what I hope to be a prosperous future in industry.

The Sacred Talisman’s position is to encourage the wearer to feed off its strength and ability, through its combined symbolic qualities. My designs represent a metaphysical body of armour that provides perseverance, will, courage, and knowledge to the wearer, to guide them through transition and transformation. The collection is the epitome of strength, power, and confidence, and it aims to realise them into the lives of myself and the wearer. The Sacred Talisman sees confident engineered prints inject colour, placement, and scale across garments and silk fashion scarves. A surrealist composition of seven animals denotes the hero design for this collection, which embodies the role of a sacred talisman who possesses combined symbolism of its components. Utilising the idea of a conversational silk scarf, the final outcomes for this project speak the story of each chosen animal alike to myself as a graduate, through colour, texture, pattern, and composition.
