My name is Daniel Becker and I am from Cologne, Germany. In November 2025, I completed a Master's degree in Accessories Design at Accademia Costume e Moda in Rome, specialising in bags and women's accessories. I have a strong emotional connection to my work and love using this as tool because ultimately, nobody will be affected by your work unless it is personal. My design approach is grounded in thorough research and concept development, coupled with experimental thinking in terms of design, materials, surface manipulation, and volumes. I enjoy combining intellectual and practical work: using my brain to conduct in-depth research and develop strong concepts, and using my hands to transform 2D ideas into 3D objects.
“The longer you look at an object, the more abstract it becomes, and, ironically, the more real.” — Lucian Freud Parallel lines that appear distorted, vases that become heads, static images that seem to move. Many objects are not what they first appear to be. Fascinated by this ambiguity, I explore how optical illusions can transform portable objects. What exactly is a bag? A decorative object, status symbol, functional tool—or something between all three? Through colour, form, and surface, I explore how a two-dimensional illusion can suggest three-dimensional depth, challenging our perception of space and reality. My work creates a dialogue between object, illusion, and perception.
