Cedric Fernández Fernández is a photographer based in Hildesheim (Germany), focusing on the intersection of documentary and conceptual photography. His work often explores themes of migration, rural transformation, and the traces of human presence within landscapes and architecture.
Drawing inspiration from the New Objectivity and the Becher School, his images aim to portray the social and spatial shifts of contemporary life through a precise and quiet visual language.
'No Longer/Not Yet' explores the consequences of rural depopulation in Spain as part of a broader transformation of modernity. The project considers what happens when the promises of progress, mobility and economic growth abandon certain places. Rather than treating depopulation as merely a demographic or economic issue, the project considers it to be a cultural and political process that alters the relationships between people, places and land. Moving between loss and possibility, it asks what disappears with the decline of rural communities, what remains, and what forms of life might emerge from this transformation.
