Fashion Designer born in Hong Kong, Cassie Yau recently graduated from London College of Fashion in BA Womenswear. She values the playfulness of experimenting silhouettes on the body, whilst incorporating couture and bespoke tailoring techniques in her projects.
Yau's minimal aesthetic appreciates the unexpected beauty within failures, imperfection, and encouraging a deeper exploration of oneself with the unconscious mind as a designer.
LOOP ROUTE explores the temporary loss of control over the body and mind in dreams. It appreciates the occurrence of natural imperfection in the process and the unexpected beauty in failures. The collection was developed mainly based on the dream of rolling people, experimenting with twisting and slicing motions that were used on clay and rolling pin. Research focuses on body proportion exploration and the ability of the rolling pin to extend, elongate and rearranging objects. Following the journey of recreating her dreams into reality, she is inspired by the movement and process of making. The process-driven designs were created with couture and tailoring techniques.
