About

Ashley Lloyd’s inspiration for his strong, bold and fearless style developed from women who surrounded him through his younger years to present day. Growing up in a single parent household, Ashley’s mother, aunts and grandmother were his main fashion inspirations as they took extreme pride in the styles of clothing worn, together with how it complimented their body shape. He also counts close female companions as a strong influence and drive behind his fashion label today. My aesthetic is architectural, ready-to-wear. Structural silhouettes are inspired by city architecture and my Caribbean heritage. The silhouettes depict a strong, hard shell with symmetric and asymmetric lines signifying metal, brick and glass work detailing exaggerated shoulders, 3d panelling, fabric manipulation along with embellishments play a vital part in enhancing the look and style of each collection to give a luxury feel to the hard edgy exterior of the garments. Dark rich intonations are applied to the colour palette with elements of muted tones acting as palette cleanser throughout.I am inspired by London buildings, architecture, glass, and metal and see these forms within Jamaican dance costumes such as bead work, sequins and embellishments. My aesthetic and identity are a pivotal part of my design process and my communication style as a designer.

This project showcases my work from my most recent and previous terms at LCF. This includes editorial & advertorial images from LCF projects and Bespoke pieces I have created through my business ventures. My work focuses on strong heroic women and building a world where these women are appreciated, honored and live within our existence. My pieces are protective armour for all women to go out and fight the daily battles life has to throw at them, knowing they can handle any obstacles and do so fashionably. Throughout each theme I utilize mixed mediums to illustrate my work and identify a number of styles and silhouettes I encompassed throughout my final pieces. Each theme provides a variant of texture, fabric choice and techniques; for instance my SS21 collection focused more on latex, feathers, and faux snake leather as it was a conceptual collection. the idea was to visualise shedding layers of skin as this theme was based around oppression and my sexuality. Whilst my Tailoring project as seen in Gmaro magazine took inspiration form traditional tailoring methods and materials and incorporating more modern sports wear elements to the design with the use of quilted fabric. within the portfolio there are three projects which consist of tailoring, aesthetic and identity and lastly deconstruction. other elements of work shown are bespoke designs, music video's Tv appearances where my pieces where displayed and or collections created.
