Hello,
I'm Anneke Maarhuis, a recent graduate of Spatial Design. I'm passionate about Interior Design, Textiles and Product Design. I enjoy working with my hands playing with materiality and partnering with others to develop innovative and sustainable designs.
In my spare time, I love to stay active, exploring the beautiful landscapes Aotearoa has to offer and spending time with family and friends.
I'm on the lookout for new roles and opportunities in the spatial and interior design space. If you know of anything, or just feel like catching up, I'd love to hear from you! Excited for what the future holds, I'm eager to collaborate with inspiring people and places.
In an urban environment, our relationship to natural environments can be limited. We experience plants and green space in pockets within our urban city through the trees and foliage lining the streets. A boundary between us and the natural environment is formed through the separation of interior and exterior spaces. Softened Edges considers how textiles can be used to strengthen the relationship between architecture and landscape. Softened Edges proposes a continuous rug that extends from outside through inside blending two spaces seamlessly. By investigating ideas of flow, continuity and connectedness, we are reminded that we should not separate ourselves from the land but welcome it as we are a part of it.
