Hi! I'm Alex Turnbull, a designer from Edmonton, Alberta, currently living and making in Vancouver, British Columbia. I graduated from Emily Carr University of Art and Design with a major in Industrial Design in 2026.
I love bold shapes, punchy colours and unexpected details. My work is about building a connection between people and the things they live with through play, intention and curiosity.
Whether it's a chair, a backpack or something in between, I'm always experimenting with how things can come together in new ways.
Inspired by cabinets of curiosities, what does a cabinet know is an exploration of shifting focus inwards, asking what if the cabinet itself became the curiosity? How can an object invite curiosity? How can it reveal the people behind its creation? How might it reward attention over time? Details are not immediately visible, but revealed by spending time with the piece.
