Abraham Abebe focuses on the field of education, design, and visual art. His ongoing research interest is centered around wayfinding system, security printing design (specifically developing currency and passport), and multiscript type development (focusing on Ethiopic and Latin writing systems). As a studio artist, Abraham exhibits regularly both in the USA and abroad. His paintings, drawings, and installations have been featured in 11 solo and more than 50 group exhibitions. Abraham is the author of an experimental typography book, “Professor Fuzo: Poems and Short Stories”, published in the United States, and a book of poetry, “Eggmel”, published in Ethiopia. Both books were written in his native language Amharic.
Axum is a multilingual typeface that has been developed for use in publication and wayfinding systems, supporting both Ethiopic and Latin scripts. Its primary purpose is to ensure consistency, enhance aesthetics, improve legibility, facilitate navigation, and promote safety within the system. The typeface family offers a variable option, providing a range of weights to optimize performance and flexibility.
