About
I am an artist whose medium is clothing. I believe the allure of clothing is the ability to use a person as a canvas, a complete immersion between the wearer and the art. Inspired by fantasy and science fiction, I seek to tear down the rigidity of normalcy achieving a deep, true image of ourselves.
We have no way to eliminate nuclear waste. The best we can do is bury it deep underground and hope it’ll decay over time. The estimated time it takes for nuclear waste to decay is thousands to millions of years. Which begs the questions: how do we warn future generations where we buried it? There were many proposed ideas. Genetically modified glow in the dark cats. Atomic priesthoods. Physical markers that convey the image of a “shunned land”. None can guarantee longevity in the face of deep time. The sublime is the concept of an overwhelming, incomprehensible, and threatening force. Greatness beyond comprehension, beyond measure and calculation; it is humanity subsumed. This project is an exploration of deep time and its relationship with humanity’s futile attempts of control.
