About

My name is Jordyn Chappell and I am a fashion designer currently based in Denver, CO. I’ve recently finished my BFA in Fashion Design with minors in Accessory Design and Drawing at the Savannah College of Art and Design. In a past life before transferring to SCAD, I studied architecture, urban planning, and landscaping in the Environmental Design program at the University of Colorado Boulder. My goal as a designer is to shift the focus of the fashion industry from mindless consumption and trends, to a responsible means of having style as well as to use the fashion industry as a medium to advocate for social justice. I’m interested in learning skills and different creative processes from all design fields to provide different perspectives and innovative ideas.

The legend of the lost filipino cowboy

The Legend of the Lost Filipino Cowboy is a collection about being of mixed racial identity and the trials and tribulations that come along with being multi-cultural. This collection is for everyone who is of mixed heritage but it is told through my own experience of being half Filipino, half white and having been born and raised in Colorado. With being mixed, I’ve never felt like I belonged fully to my communties because I’m not fully of those ethnic backgrounds. I’ve, like many others, have gone on a long journey to rediscover cultural traditions and history so that I may feel more grounded in my cultural heritage. While this collection speaks on this lonely road, it is also a celebration of all these different cultures in a mixed person coming together to create a different perspective as everyone has different experiences with their racial identity, even if they have the exact same racial identity and grew up in the same house hold as someone else.
