fashion + textile development, STEM-inspired fashion and cross-disciplinary innovation <3mofe 2026 <3
terraformé is a geomorphic fashion collection that features wearable 3D textile sculptural forms and 2D textile surfaces. These mimetically represent satellite images taken by NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter High Resolution Imaging Experiment (MRO HiRISE) camera. Silhouettes were developed through swatching using foiled, flocked, felted, quilted and embellished wool fabrications, which were collaged onto the body to determine proportions and garment types. The warmth and weight of the dunes represented by wool pieces is juxtaposed by the whispers of Martian winds that formed them, and an auratic glow of light that permeates the sand, these are represented by silk georgette slips, and a dramatic organza poncho. This project was supported by a $2500 AUD Australian Wool Education Trust grant.
