experimental performance
This project provides an opportunity for profound personal reflection, a response to an increasingly hostile world towards marginalized communities, and a form of silent activism. Feelings and emotions emerge as salient threads within the fabric of this narrative, as I recount the intricacies of selectively navigating the process of coming out, strategically revealing facets of their identity in accordance with the societal context they inhabit. This deliberate act of disclosure underscores the intricacies of self-preservation and survival within a milieu where acceptance is not always assured. This dichotomy of experience, of straddling two worlds, punctuates my narrative with a nuanced understanding of identity negotiation and resilience amidst adversity. As a queer artist from Russia, where fear, limits, and caution define existence under oppressive laws, I reject constraints to create boldly and unapologetically—my work is art, identity, and defiance.
