About

I'm Zeyuan, a knit designer with a background in fashion (knitwear) and accessory design. I’m a detailed oriented, self-motivated and enthusiastic person who’s always sensitive to fashion and multi-culture. Becoming a fashion designer is my dream. I keep learning new methods of designing and dressmaking and always try to transform my skills and feelings into popular products, giving me a great sense of fulfilment. I‘d like to be a knitwear designer in the future, which is based on my interest in the various changes created by knitting and I hope to have a more in-depth exploration of the sustainable development of the fashion industry.I am prepared to face the challenge of fashion design and carry out further work in the area. Besides, solid knowledge, excellent skills and an amiable personality are advantageous to adapt to this job. Dealing with tedious details positively, I am patient, hard-working, and adept at summarizing. Having strong executive ability, I attached great importance to innovation in daily practice as a stickler for perfection.

In my final project, my theme is Rational Freedom. My research into freedom and restriction is inspired by the fact that freedom is restricted in response to the spread of the epidemic era. Still, if left unchecked, the consequences might be catastrophic. And I believe this is how everything works in the world. This project explores the balance between absolute permissiveness and restriction, combining it with knitted fabrics to express the dialectical relationship between the two states. The project involves exploring law and justice, installation art, performance art and other related fields. During the development and experiment, the joint of the two different knitted fabrics and the textures expressed the dialectical relationship between the two states, which also sought to find the best combination of different patterns and techniques to achieve a balance between the fabric and the final garment, incorporating the "Mean" from traditional Chinese culture. I used different techniques to express order and chaos in knitted materials and found the right way to subtly combine the two states in both pattern and technique to achieve a balance. The black parts of the fabric are full of folds, contrasting with the flat white texture. At the same time, the combination of knitted fabric and epoxy can also be considered a balance between soft and hard, representing freedom and firmness for restriction. My work will give the audience a sense of security and strength that comes from rational freedom, which helps reduce societal instability and make our lives safer, more harmonious and happier.
