Canadian emerging artist Jaime Pattison resides in Detroit Michigan, where she will earn her BFA in 2022 at College for Creative Studies. Pattison has exhibited both in her home city and internationally. Primarily working in oil she explores the complexities of human attachment through figuration. Some of the most significant exhibitions she has been associated with include Where Two Oceans Meet at The Annex Gallery in Detroit in 2022, and Quiet Revolutions at Gallerie Camile in Detroit in 2022. She is also the recipient of several awards, including Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors Scholarship in 2020.
I approach painting as a way to think through the complex and contradictory experiences that happen within a home. In my recent series Nothing Moved, I investigate the figure and domestic space as a way of looking inward and outward. Through colour, materiality, and subject I explore the contradictory feelings that occur most potently in your home. How do you the figure the anxiety of loss? What is essential to a relationship?
