About

Hannah Wooldrage is an aspiring jeweller from Orkney, North Scotland. Having spent most of her life living on an island, she uses her connection to Orkney as inspiration for her designs, creating handcrafted jewellery that captures the textures of the island’s natural landscapes and the sea. This year marks a fundamental moment in her creative journey as she delves deeper into the essence of Orkney, refining her craft and shaping her vision in three-dimensional form. Building upon practical skills, she aims to sculpt narratives that echo the soul of her island home and capture its essence in every shape and form.  During her university degree, Hannah has taken on the role of Ethical Making Ambassador on behalf of Gray’s School of Art for the Scottish Goldsmiths Trust where she has helped to educate staff and students about the importance of ethical making. Having a passion and commitment to creating an ethical practice Hannah ensures that each piece she makes not only communicates a story but is made using recycled silver and ethically sourced gemstones.

Jewelry

Taking inspiration from sand ripples found on Aberdeen Beach, the jewellery created is textured using the natural casting process cuttlefish casting and cast into recycled silver. The jewellery represents the journey between Orkney and Aberdeen through the North Sea.
