Kristina
Aurora Simonsen (1995, Aarhus, DK) is a visual artist focused on art
photography. Aurora mostly works on long-term projects,utilizing
metaphors from the natural environment to construct speculative
narratives that reveal non-linear entanglements between human and
non-human life.
Giving up
pace and decentering the human in encounters with other organisms
and entities, is a method for her to explore the mystical and
emotional connection between the body and the natural world.
She is
interested in various approaches to the photographic medium and
combines it with other media,(e.g. text,moving image,sound and
culptural installations).
The project My Grief is a Line- Sometimes a Circle is an introspective search for healing, (self-)care and affection, reflecting cultural histories of grief and personal trauma in relation to hair. Aurora repeatedly works with her own and other peoples hair, which is clouded in modern interpretations of what hair represents. The original relationship with the material is both fixed and transformed with each repetition, becoming a ritualistic act of love.
