Morstrous Masquerade is a playful celebration that provides an escape into a fantasy realm. YiLi's monstrous creations creatively cover the body, hiding visible signs of race, class or gender. Loud colors and oversized garments enlarge the body through padded textiles, feathers and handmade felting techniques. Each look captures a 'transformative stage' - the moment when 'human' becomes otherworldly beast. Yet these monsters are not scary, instead they are mischievous and endearing. They transport people to a place of wonder and imagination, where the biases of society are removed, and diversity is celebrated rather than feared.
