This project is focused on Monknash, a village located in the Vale of Glamorgan. Through the lens of Monknash, I look at human connection to place and how landscape, memories and history are all intertwined and connect us to our environment. I explore journey, both through the landscape and through time. By looking to the past, I attempt to understand and create value in the present. I gather archival documents in my making, using processes like clay lithography to embody and recreate memories of past events. Collecting found, natural materials across the landscape, such as driftwood, is a key component in bridging the gap between history and landscape. Through an interactive archaeological site, I want to highlight the history of Monknash, as well as encourage exploration and discovery of what connects humans and nature, bringing about experiential learning and empirical understanding in an age where everything is learnt second hand or through the internet.
