About
My work explores how materials, craft and computational technologies can come together to create more responsive relationships between architecture, the body and the environment.My thesis project, Meet… A Hygromorph!, investigates machine-knitted wool as a hygroscopically responsive architectural material, exploring how its natural behaviour can be translated into spatial and climatic experiences.
Meet… A Hygromorph! explores the potential of machine-knitted wool to become an active part of architecture. Rather than relying on mechanical systems, the project investigates how wool’s inherent hygroscopic properties can create passive, material-driven responses to changing environmental conditions. Through a series of material experiments and computational design processes, the research develops knitted membranes that react, move and transform in response to humidity and temperature. These investigations are translated into a speculative architectural environment composed of reactive layers and microclimates, where material behaviour mediates between body and environment. The project asks how craft, material intelligence and digital technologies might contribute to a more responsive architecture.
