I am a jewelry designer and graduate of the Jewelry Design Department at Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art. My creative process usually begins with the material itself. Through making, testing, and observing, I allow ideas and forms to develop.I have always been drawn to textures, different materials, and the organic forms found in nature. Much of my work is created through hand carved wax, a process that allows me to build sculptural and organic forms directly by hand. This approach is also central to my independent jewelry brand, YAELI Jewelry.In my work, there is often a dialogue between planning and the behavior of the material, including the unexpected and accidental forms that emerge during the process. I am interested in how material, process, and making can shape the final object, rather than simply serve a predetermined design.
