About

Digital designer from Bratislava, with a PC and a lot of free time.

One of the things I love the most about digital art, is the sheer diversity of tools, workflows and options which are avalaible to us. They allow us to create anything we can think of, faster than ever. Projects which would require entire teams 20 years ago, can be today handled by anyone resourceful, all we need is connection to the internet and a notebook. For my graduation project, I wanted to challange myself and push my home-made-donut-tutorial-hardened 3d motion skills, and see, just how big and complex project will I be able to create with the help of modern digital tools. I also wanted to get a bit back, and go over all the important principles and processes required when working on projects such as this. In the end, I pushed through 3D modelling, texturing, animation, scene-building, compositing and sound design. Working on my first project this big made more aware of boundaries of my skills, and more importantly it made me realize just how complex every part of creative process is, and just how much I still have to learn. As for the theme, I always liked automotive culture. Some of my first interactions with digital world were racing games. I spent countless hours of my childhood either making liveries or just racing in games such as need for speed or dirt, and having fun. Particularly, I wanted to explore the topic of rally racing. If any of the motorsports evokes speed, it has to be rally with its breakneck pace and its drivers, always just one hesitation away from potentially fatal mistake. And even better, as something inherently tied with movement and speed it’s a perfect analogy for motion design. In the result result, I’ve got my hands on many processes. What started as a project with one clear goal became a group of interconnected small projects. I started with my own reimagination of the legendary Alpine A110, which I’ve then used as a main subject in a 3d short, in which I play with the principles of motion design and complex process of video making.
