About
Guoqing Zhou is a 2026 Metalwork and Jewelry graduate of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. Working across contemporary craft, art objects and digital fabrication, Zhou explores how technological systems meet embodied making. Zhou’s practice combines metalwork, material testing, digital modelling and 3D printing, with an emphasis on judgement, structure and the physical consequences of making.
What remains human as artificial intelligence enters everyday life? Intervention begins with AI entering the artist’s own creative process, using that encounter to explore this question. Across six familiar objects—a cup, bowl, plate, spoon, fork and knife—hand-worked silver gradually gives way to white 3D-printed structures. Technology enters at points of support, grip and touch, reshaping each object from within. Rather than placing humans and machines in simple opposition, the series asks how human judgment, experience and creative agency might endure as technology becomes an extension of us.
