'Hortus' a Latin word that means garden. She is not only a lampshade, but also an intimate space for activities. According to research, there are increasing number of couple forming their family and home together. However, after 3 years, the intimacy in the relationship may drop gradually. 'Hortus' is a DIY design set, that created new opportunities for the users to develop, involve, interact, and enhance their intimacy. The structure of the lampshade is made of wood without any glue. Users can weave the ratten-shaped fabric onto the framework to create their own lampshade. The DIY set also provided some flower and bird's shape magnets, as well as cards. Which provided opportunities for the audience to input their appreciation and memories of the lampshade and share with their partner. Through users constantly adding personal memories and appreciation for other family members on the lampshade, it is not just a lighting design, but also a ‘Home Garden’ for maintaining the intimate relationship between two family members.
