About
Hi, I’m Lola Boucher, I’m an Illustrator and visual artist with a passion for storytelling through imagery. I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2026 with a 1st class degree in Illustration with Animation, and I’m currently aspiring to work across editorial, publishing, and advertising content. My practice is informed by surrealist ideas, with a strong focus on tone, composition, and intricate detail. I enjoy exploring the relationship between space and subject, using fine, considered mark-making to create illustrations that feel both expressiveand narrative-driven. I work across a variety of mediums, including oil painting, traditional printmaking, and hand-drawn techniques with a heavy focus on digital drawing.
Jazz Associates is an illustrated publication I created for my final university project. Through my digital illustrations, I sought to capture the essence of this dynamic art form, translating rhythm into line and improvisation into visual movement. This collection is a homage to the roots, history and musicians of jazz. I invite you to experience jazz not just as a series of notes but as a living, breathing entity - one that sways, jumps, whispers, and soars. May these images ignite your imagination to carry the rhythm, the emotion, and the atmosphere of a music that refuses to stand still.
