About

Studying BA (Hons) Fashion Design, I fell in love with pattern cutting, illustration, and the process of handcrafting building blocks that bring a 2D idea to life. I strive to tell stories inspired by my upbringing and the feelings of it in my designs. The narratives I construct are personal – rooted in both fantasy and reality by crossing paths of past and present, modernity with tradition. I believe it is imperative to consider the past to construct the future, provide sanctuary and prioritise comfort, as fashion is at its core, meant to be lived in. I am also devoted to textile design and the characteristics materials possess - as I was first introduced to the marvellous world of fashion through the subject. The quality, textures and finishes of fabrics, the foundation of fashion, are fundamental to my design style and my vision. As the innovative, Danish womenswear designer Cecilie Bahnsen once said, "Beauty is the balance between simplicity and detail, both in nature and in the manmade." Prioritising hand-crafted and slow fashion is a value I hold close to.

dreamscapes in retrospect

‘Dreamscapes in Retrospect’ is a melancholy reflection of childhood imagination and a love letter to fairy tales. The collection utilises aspects of surrealism and escapism in its dreamy, layered silhouettes to explore the innocence and romance in the juvenile conscious and unconscious mind. Billowing shapes and draped diaphanous textiles provide unique but comforting textures, representing hazy memories, and drawing attention to a wide-eyed curiosity and nostalgia for a bygone, whimsical fantasy. Muted brights paired with tea-stained parchment shades allow the intricate hand-crafted textiles to take centre stage in this collection, prioritising the wearer’s comfort and emotion. The textiles' organic feel and tactile nature emulate feelings of soft duvets and walking barefoot in a meadow - triggering a reminiscence for rustic, fantasised garden tea parties. The wearer is transported outside of this reality to a specific girlhood utopia of floating gardens in the clouds. Key motifs in the collection are also a Mizuno-Wise signature. Florals, botanicals, and sensory textiles - mixing modernity with tradition, capture the crossing paths of past and the present, and in turn highlight the loss of girlhood through a retrospective, personal lens.
