About
Hi, my name is a Kate Johnson, I am a recent Product Design graduate of Duncan and Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee University. I graduated with a upper second class BSc (Hons).
I am extremely passionate about both design and making specifically for furniture or home furnishings.
Coorie Comfort is a 2 person sofa designed for a kitchen space, to aid connection and conversation in what is often one of the smallest rooms in the house. The concept is inspired by Coorie (Scottish)and Hygge (Danish) design which focus on comfort and interaction. It uses natural materials and has been deliberately slimmed down to avoid a feeling of bulkiness by creating space within the piece to achieve an elegant and streamlined design. The space below stores 2 tables and the curves add a coziness to the design. The cushions add comfort and are removable and washable befitting a kitchen space. The whole design creates a perfect solution to encourage interaction within a comfortable and beautiful product.
