About
Ceramics has always been a part of my life. As a child, I got to know this field through my mother's work and creation.
Throughout the years I found myself drawn to two fields – music and material.
I felt a strong passion for both of them and found a place for self-growth and expression in each one.I see how the world of material corresponds with music, and how the two foundations I grew up on combine together in my work.
Singing allows me to connect to my spiritual parts and makes me feel closer and more connected to myself.Creating ceramics opens endless possibilities for me to create and express my ideas and emotions. Therefore, many times I can combine in my work some of my musical creations.My work moves between design and art. Through design, I express my practical and innovative thoughts about the pottery craft, while art allows me to express my inner musical character.In my work, I aspire to give my signature and a feeling of esthetics and accuracy.
The term that has guided me throughout this project is “void”. My preoccupation with this term comes from the philosophical understanding that refers to emptiness, in-between, space, and time. In this work, I examine these concepts through the void created between the ceramic bodies and the viewers, through space and sound. I have created ceramic bodies that serve as resonating bodies. They vary in size and shape and consequently alter the sound in the space. I see them as a musical translation of a language of forms within which I work. The sound in the space is a recording of the sounds made by the ceramic bodies themselves along with a song I wrote and performed. The song touches on pain, longing, memory, and emptiness like the ceramic bodies themselves.
