I am Aishwarya, a dedicated student pursuing a Masters in Product and Furniture Design at Kingston University in London. With a background in crafting handmade products in India, I have delved into the mesmerising world of straw marquetry. The interplay of light and intricate straw patterns captivates me, and the meditative, gradual process fuels my creativity. Through the "Auras Collection," I merge traditional craftsmanship and research to craft illuminating light fixtures that redefine spaces. This journey signifies my passion for merging traditional artistry with contemporary design, infusing life and allure into modern interiors.
Auras is a collection of finely handcrafted straw marquetry products which serves as a homage to an endangered craft. By reviving straw marquetry, Auras bridges the time gap and invites you to see how traditional craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics merge together.
