Luna Haverkorn is a textile designer with a passion for materialexploration, sustainability, and craftsmanship. For her bachelor’sdegree, she studied Product Design at Willem de Kooning Academyin Rotterdam. She continued her studies with a Master’s in TextileInteraction Design at the Swedish School of Textiles, specializing inknitting.Her work moves between art and design, where the process is asimportant as the final outcome. Through experimentation andmaterial research, she explores both traditional and unconventionalmaterials. These textiles develop into three-dimensional formsthrough construction, often incorporating small details, rhythms, andmovable elements. Inspired by shapes found in nature, she looks tomaterial properties for answers, resulting in diverse projects with aninnovative and solution-oriented approach.Her recent work explores how design can influence humanbehaviour by examining interactions between people and objects.Through playfulness and unexpected user-object interactions, sheaims to make people more aware of how they engage with theirsurroundings.Sustainability is an important part of her practice. She works withupcycled and durable, environmentally responsible materials. Micro-production allows her to minimize waste and maintain control overthe production process. She values the uniqueness of handcraftedwork, ensuring that each piece has its own character and story.Haverkorn aims to push the boundaries of textile design bytransforming materials into dynamic, interactive elements thatchange through use.
