About

Hi, my name is Wenqi Sun! I am currently studying Fashion Design and Fashion Management at Savannah College of Art and Design! During my studies, these two majors opened the door for me to enter the fashion industry and discover my irrevocable passion for fashion. After graduation, I still want to work in the fashion field. In the past, I not only solidified my professional knowledge in school, and I also participated in many competitions and internships, and part-time jobs in different directions, which gained many achievements and helped me to accumulate work experience that I believe I will show in my future work.

“abstinence” and "desire"

In the culture I am in, sexuality is often an avoided topic. People choose not to confront or talk about sexuality because, in their conservative eyes, it is often a subject that is difficult to speak of, making the lack of sex education a social phenomenon. Some people may even feel ashamed or guilty about these desires. Yet, sexuality is a natural tendency and one of the basic needs of human beings. As such, I believe that confronting these desires is an essential step in understanding what you want within yourself and a crucial step in rethinking how your self and culture view sexuality. In this design, I wanted to confront sexuality head-on and think about how to present it in an intuitive but acceptable way. Therefore, I tried to re-conceptualize and reassemble the suit that represents abstinence to explore sexuality by simulating the combination of movements in a sexual act and presenting it directly but non-explicitly. At the same time, I introduced many sexually-themed prints into the design to emphasize this theme. Through this design, I hope to provoke viewers to think about sexuality, prompting them to re-examine ideas and stereotypes in sex education and traditional culture and encourage an open and respectful dialog about sexuality. I also hope to provide a platform for people to better understand their own and society's attitudes toward sexuality, thereby promoting a more inclusive and open cultural perspective.
