This collection is inspired by fossils born and crafted uniquely from nature over time and how their appearance gives way to its provenance and history. This idea was translated into garments via modularity- the idea that much like nature crafts no two stones alike- the wearer can interact with the seaming and cuts via buttoned closures to create a garment that is like their own personal sculpture. This buildability and interchangeability allows for the wearer to combine art and everyday life, memory and lived experience and to give a faceted peak into their own ever changing inner life. The connected panels create a layered story of ourselves, serving as our own memory fossil. The modularity and adjustability also allows the garment to be size and gender inclusive and promotes sustainability as the timeless, slow-fashion garment can be worn for years in many ways thus reducing the need to purchase more.
