Arts Thread is proud to be working with TEX+ again for 2025
NURTURING NEW TEXTILE TALENT
• TEX+ is an initiative to promote, support and enhance textile design and training.
Its mission is to connect textile graduates and practitioners with opportunities across the textile industries and beyond.
• TEX+ will work with UK universities colleges & schools of art to strengthen the bridge between academia and industry through mentorship and training, and by creating vital connections for selected graduates to enable them to reach their full potential. Including showcasing the 25 finalists in London 16-18 July.
TEX+ focuses on all aspects of textile excellence by engaging in best contemporary practices and relevant contemporary issues.
TEX+ submissions should be listed under one of the following specialisms
- Textile Print
- Textile Knit
- Textile Weave
- Textile Mixed Media
- Textile Concept
For Tex+ 2025 we will be looking for excellence practice in the following categories:
- INNOVATION & CREATIVITY - innovative use of materials, colour, finishes
- TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE - exceptional craftsmanship, technical mastery and process.
- SUSTAINABILITY & ETHICAL PRACTICE - responsible textiles, forward-thinking textile solutions
- COMMERCIAL & MARKET POTENTIAL - designs with commercial promise and potential to shape textile industries
- CULTURAL & SOCIAL IMPACT - cultural narratives, traditions reworked for today
Submission to the Arts Thread website must include the following:
- A short personal statement (max 300 words)
- 10 examples of work including sketchbooks etc by each candidate
- PLUS One minute video talking briefly about your work (vertical view) - TO BE UPLOADED ONTO VIMEO - if there is no video, the nomination will not be considered.
All your nominations to be uploaded by midnight on 7 May 2025
