About

Eunsol Kang is a womenswear fashion designer, born in South Korea and based in the US. Since she gets burning the burning desire for creating beautiful art and an eye for fashion from her mother who majored in ceramic art, she has been focused on studying art for most of her life and had a lot of interest in art and fashion since she was little. For her, fashion is one of the ways to communicate with people and she loves to deliver particular messages through fashion design as a language. She explores and is inspired by simplicity, feminine aesthetic, and material when creating her work.

Reinterpreted Romanticism & 1980s

She loves combining ideas and visual elements and believes that all cultural texts should have complexity. Once she explored the idea of feminism and realized that a woman’s position in society has many historical layers, she examined different perspectives of feminism through history and combined Romanticism and the 1980s in her graduation collection. She reimagined the oversized power suit silhouette with Romantic-era clothing and print, creating a new fashion that combines two different eras of women’s history (social status, perspective, politics, culture, etc.) She brought unexpected materials, such as reflective, illuminating, and metallic fabrics. The structured ad stiff reflective mirror fabric is perfect for dramatic expressions of 80s power suit silhouettes, and it’s mirror-like qualities represent Romanticism’s emphasis on individuality and freedom.
