About
I am Eli, an illustrator currently based in Lucerne, Switzerland. My passion for storytelling and creating fictional worlds, has always been something I wanted to explore as much as I could. Since I often fail to communicate with just words, illustration allows me to express myself in a different way, where I feel like I can truly reach someones heart. My projects often focus on exploring questions of identity and mental health struggles, while I perceive a lot of things as quite ambivalent. At the time I often draw with ink and watercolor but I also enjoy techniques like paper cutting or screen printing and materials besides paper such as clay and textiles. I love to try and discover new things which led me to have a big interest in animation and filmmaking as well.
"This place irritates me, it unsettles me, it feels wrong. I feel wrong. I feel like I don’t belong here. Where do I go when I feel like I don’t belong anywhere?" A story about being left alone in an empty home that didn’t feel like home for a long time. About struggling with mental health problems and no one to talk to but yourself. About trying to find some peace of mind in strange worlds created by yourself, only to be haunted even there by your own unpleasant thoughts. It’s a story about being uncertain about yourself and your place in the world while trying to unterstand why you feel the way you do and searching for a place you really belong to. And sometimes, a very comforting creature visits that makes you feel a little bit better about yourself. This graphic novel takes the reader on a journey, following the main character through obscure worlds, while it remains unclear whether what’s happening is real or not.
