About
We spend a majority of time indoors. How can we not design to improve where we spend our time? I design to empower, and elevate the users of each interior space. My focus is on equitable design. Making sure everyone has the opportunity to interact with the space around them and have it aid them in their life. I strive to design interior spaces that are inclusive and accessible. I believe interior design can be luxurious but is not a luxury for a select few.
Full Circle -supporting local youth
Full Circle is an after school center (asc) for children and teens aged 5-18. I decided to design an asc because they have a high opportunity to intervene with local youth in a positive manner. Full Circle was designed to be a place that would help strengthen and empower these users by aiding them to nurture healthy relationships with their peers and teach valuable life skills that will aid them in their present and future life. In hand with that I wanted to address Food Insecurity in children and especially adolescents. Food insecurity(FI) is the condition of not having access to sufficient food, or food of an adequate quality, to meet one’s basic needs. Being FI not only leads to poor mental and physical health but also leads to an unhealthy lifestyle. Full Circle will provide resources to reduce food insecurity by offering tasty and healthy food options outside of school and providing a safe space for youth to play, socialize and learn from each other.
