About
Devyani Mahadevan is a designer who integrates a multidisciplinary approach to capture a brand’s intent across various mediums. Drawing inspiration from everyday life, she crafts narratives through thoughtful storytelling. With four years of design experience in India, she recently completed her MFA in Graphic Design from MICA, where she refined her skills in graphic design across different applications, including branding, publication, and UI design, while beginning her typeface design journey. This blend of academic knowledge and hands-on experience equips her to create impactful work.
Street View celebrates the perpetual evolution of urban streets, zooming into evolving textures, emerging lifeforms, and changing typography, and zooming out to a maze of roads and pathways. This perspective is exemplified in four projects: Sewer, a variable typeface inspired by the natural weathering of metal letters on manhole covers; Roads, representing the way planned roads are altered by the pathways created by inhabitants for convenience; a flip book showcasing the interplay of sidewalk patterns; and a series of photographic posters capturing fleeting moments of life on the streets.
