Yudi Cao is a multidisciplinary artist and designer from Beijing, now living and studying in Toronto. Her art combines elements from both Eastern and Western traditions, exploring the intersection of digital and traditional media. Yudi has a special fondness for raccoons, which often appear in her work, bringing a sense of playfulness and curiosity to her explorations of everyday life. Through her art, Yudi invites viewers to experience intimate moments and personal narratives set against a backdrop of vibrant scenes. "Resonance" is an interactive installation exploring the impact of shared experiences on human connections. It's based on the idea that every interaction, no matter how small, creates ripples beyond the immediate moment. This concept is visually represented by water ripples, illustrating the evolution of emotional resonance and collaborative harmony in social relationships. The installation uses an Xbox Kinect for motion sensing, translating viewer movements into ripples displayed on an electronic screen via TouchDesigner and projectors. Each participant's actions shape the visual outcome, highlighting the importance of individual contributions and collective synergy. The project culminates in a video that captures this dynamic interplay, emphasizing the significance of balance and resonance in social interactions.
