I want you to think back to an event, a memory of some kind, where things shifted for you. Your beliefs were shaken, you crossed a threshold of some kind, some change occurred that fundamentally altered the flow of your life. While you were experiencing this phenomenon, you crossed into a realm of displacement. You lost your past self, but hadn’t landed in a new self yet. Anthropologists call this space liminality. They originally attributed it to rites of passage but later realized it applied to many facets of life.
