My goal is to use my designs to make the viewer aware of the beauty and significance of objects in everyday life. I want to emphasize their simplicity and functionality, but also offer the opportunity to reflect on their symbolic value. My work invites reflection, on the way we perceive and value everyday objects.
The project “Ademruimte/ Breathing Space" focuses on the staircase as an everyday feature that is often overlooked. The fascination with stairs stems from their rhythm, repetition and simple beauty. Stairs have more to them than just connecting levels; they are elements that are often considered non-space. For this reason, the project's creator has highlighted stairs in various ways, as an tribute to stairs. “Ademruimte/ Breathing Space" is an overarching project that reflects the ideas of pause, relief and recovery. It aims to create space for relaxation, rest and breathing. It includes two central elements: “Adempauze/ Breathe" is a stairwell where people can walk at their own pace and decide when to take breaks. “Verademing/ Relief” is a piece of furniture where several people can rest and relax.
